Boris Becker was born in Leimen, south western Germany. In 1985, at the age of 17, he won the prestigious tennis tournament at Wimbledon, England, as the youngest player ever.
Becker, famous for his powerful serve on Wimbledon’s grass courts, won the top tennis title two more times in his stellar career and was ranked the world's No 1 tennis player in 1991. Throughout his career he won 49 singles titles and 15 doubles titles.
Becker retired from professional sports in 1999, and now lives in Schwyz in Switzerland. Together with Steffi Graf, Becker made tennis one of the most popular sports in Germany. Today, he coaches younger players. Besides running a marketing company, Becker is a commentator at Wimbledon for the BBC each year and participates in the International Blackrock Tour of Champions and in World Team Tennis.
